There is no definition of personal style. It varies from person to person. And we all like what we like. I’ve seen things that I find a bit bizarre, but none the less they are style. From the runways of Milan to the streets of Hollywood, we all have our own way of expressing ourselves. From the shoes that grace our steps to the tattoos that sometimes speak louder than our words ever could. We are all individuals. We all stand for ourselves even when others may feel we don’t. You are who you are. There’s no changing that. No matter how we morph ourselves spiritually or externally.

Now, over time we may change our morals, standards, religious beliefs, political views, hair color, skin color, level of understanding, wants, needs, sense of style, company, desires, preferences, but we are who we are. So whatever style you choose, allow no one to advise you to choose wisely. Choose what speaks to you. Choose what you are comfortable in. Be it a long unbelievable weave, dread locks to your knees. Bleached blond tresses or a rebellious red pixie cut. Maybe you prefer slacks as your jeans and jeans as your tux. Wear it and OWN it. Make this life yours. And never forget to use it for the good of your fellow man. Lead by example. Teach others to be comfortable in their skin, shoes, body, and choices as well.

THE COMING OF A NEW. HEIR OF A RESPECTED SOUND.

Well, it always seems to be the genius’ that kinda have me stumped, full of adjectives, wanting to use them all in one big word. Which I may try one day. Because, what do you say?! Especially when you feel like the things you have to express should already seem so obvious to people you expect to understand the way you do. But I know how some folks miss the bus. Or just don’t get the memo. Well, that’s where I step in. I have heard many Producers’ work. And I commend you all. But then there are the ones I can listen to daily. I can appreciate for their versatility. And love for their work ethics. But most of all admire, because they never forget where they come from and yet never limit themselves to where they’re going. This being my perception of 310Prophet.

A Cali native, PROPHET brushed elbows and worked with many A-List celebrities and well known Producers in his career. And I could talk about his past, spending the next few paragraphs telling you about where he came from, how long he’s been doing this and his struggle as an artist. But nah. I would rather talk about where he’s going.

In listening to his work, you wonder where he’s been the last decade. Why not standing next to his predecessors/peers, that he undoubtedly measures up against: fellow Producers like DJ Quik, Dr. Dre and Battelcat, etc.? Reminds you of the politics involved in such a close knit circuit, one can’t help but wonder how Producers like him are not QROWNED long before I see fit. And by listening, you can clearly hear that PROPHET loves his coast, but it’s even more clear that he has a sound of his own and in addition to what you may need, he’s doin’ WTF he feels… Great music.

From the oh so familiar Cali G-Funk: synths, snares and claps and jazzy/funk melodies as heard on “SUGAKANE”. To the trance forming Trap Beats: high hats, synths kicks/808, as you’ll find on “TRAPNOTIC” (MY PERSONAL FAV trap beat), it’s apparent that PROPHET has no hang ups and no hold backs. He’s got this down to a science. I’ve listened to many of his tracks and I can say, I’m either gratefully left day dreaming as I did when listening to one of my other favorites, appropriately named ”PATRONIN’”. It was easy to get lost in this one. It’s captivating. Like the heartbeat of the city on a winter’s night or at dusk in the summer while cruising down PCH, indulging in whatever it is that you may do to enjoy life. Or the cause and effects of tracks like “TRAPPIN 3”, which caused me to want to jump in a cypher and freestyle (which I can’t do); about a life I don’t live (IN THE TRAP). But maybe because while listening, it just seems so appropriate.

His name will be one you speak of often I believe. You can’t deny that feeling we get from good music. You have trends and setters. When you combine the two, it’s definitely a foundation for greatness and longevity. And above all, the man loves music. So cliché, right? Well you listen and be the judge.

So *QROWNED* he is, for his originality in sound and AMAZING ability to be versatile. 310PROPHET.

There’s always the question of “Will next year be a better year for US?” Us as in a PEOPLE. Us as in one creation. An equal species. Unlike any other. And I effortlessly answer, with a strong faith based response, with YES. We are beautiful. We are aware. We are diligent. We are. I have faith in US. I still believe in the good in US.

We are not lost. We are not blind. Nor are we confused. We are clear of our surroundings. We have just forgotten. As a People. We are all born with the exact same knowledge. Some of us blessed enough to exercise what we remember at a very young age. Some of us, not. And in those situations, we forget what we knew. Where we truly came from. But we are able. As long as we breathe and continue to teach, we are able.

Think about it. Do you ever think about why curse words are considered curse words. Because we believe they are. They’re just words. Someone intended to offend someone when they were created. But they are just words. Being offended by them is what gives them the power they hold. We can do the same in regards to having a better life and understanding for ourselves and one and another. Give that want and thought the same power

So yes, the coming New Year will be better. If we believe it into existence. It’s just that simple. .

I thought I had found a new love for music. I new appreciation. But last night, thanks to @NebbyNeb, I found a new definition for both.

I was up until 5 a.m. trying to figure out, how something so AMAZING (THE MUSIC) and SOMEONE soooo AMAZING (THE ARTIST) slipped past my radar.

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, a.k.a. LANA DEL REY, is a NY native with the LARGEST set of cojones known to man. I continuously saw people re tweeting her video “NATIONAL ANTHEM” and I had to know why. So of course I GOOGLED it and ended up in such a state of sleep deprivation that I have done nothing but study her all day since. She is a new definiton for the cliche RIDE OR DIE CHICK!!!

I have been known to NEVER have a problem expressing myself nor have I ever been at a loss for words. But it took me a second to find the words to articulate what I feel when I hear her music. And the best thing I could come up with is that after to listening to EVERYTHING I could find online (and of course I purchased her album on iTUNES the DELUXE VERSION) and downloaded anything I could get my hands on after that, I feel like had Jim Morrison of THE DOORS and Jimi Hendrix had gotten together with Jackie O’ and Ole Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) and had a meeting of the minds to bring in Marilyn Monroe during an era of JFK to create an amazing specimen during a jam session for a cinematic score full of nothing but crescendos and then that specimen had been dropped off in the NEIGHBORHOOD… LANA DEL REY would have been the result. Her style is something I would love to see partnered with THE ROOTS or even THE NEW YORK PHILHARMONIC. She is the epitome of THEN AND NOW.

“NATIONAL ANTHEM” has crossed so many barriers with lyrics and video due to her daring act of interracial presentation in reference to an era when it was soooo frowned upon. From the portrayed lifestyle to the content, she is MAGICALLY THE TRUTH. “MILLION DOLLAR MAN” was on repeat for at least an hour. “YOU CAN BE THE BOSS” may be my fav. Not sure yet because her acknowledgment of the struggle between two worlds then and now, as seen in “NATIONAL ANTHEM“ video and “BLUE JEANS“ video has me torn. I’ve got 32 songs on MY playlist… FOR NOW. I’m sprung. And I dare someone to be as OUTSTANDING and DARING and ORIGINAL. PLEASE.

And as much as I feel I have been pacified in the last few years, I have found a new definition for MUSICALLY INCLINED. You have to truly understand where I coming from with this. As much as it may seem crazy to the average consumer, this ARTIST is an unheard of yet perfectly measured concoction HIP HOP / JAZZ / ALTERNATIVE ROCKSTAR. And to her I tip my hat. Hands down she is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ARTIST. Why? Because she is just that!!! An ARTIST.
